About Me

My photo
This blog started out as a way for me to display and sell my handmade jewelry creations. I have set up shop on Etsy.com, where my shop name is "Dreamin of Beadin". The link to my Etsy store is located on the right hand side of this page. Please check me out!! If jewelry's not your thing, then check out the site anyway ~ there are plenty of talented artists selling lots of cool things there. For your reading pleasure, this blog will serve as a sneak peek into what's going on "behind the scenes" in my world. I love to cook, so there will be plenty of recipes, as well as product reviews and the occasional product giveaway (woo hoo!) I also love to take pictures of anything and everything, and I just bought a new camera, so there will be plenty of photos. And I like wine too, so things could get pretty interesting . . . Thank you for your support of me, Etsy and "all things handmade" :)

Camera Help!

I've been saving my pennies for over a year now, and I think I am finally ready to purchase the next thing on my never-ending Wish List.    I love my current camera, which is a Panasonic Lumix, but I would like to upgrade to a DSLR, or what I like to call a "big girl" camera.

My dilemma is, which one to get?   There are many popular models out there.  I've been happy with my Panasonic, so I was considering staying in that family.  Although, I am not one to be brand loyal.  I would like one that is not too complicated for a newbie to the SLR world, if that's possible.  Obviously, I want one that takes awesome pictures.  I also want to stay within a certain budget, or else I will have to keep saving.

I'm open to suggestions ~ what camera do you have, and what do you like about it?

I have a Canon Rebel Xsi (I think)? I love Canons in general, and when Husband bought the Rebel for me, from the research he did, Canons are best for detail, while Sony is best for capturing motion... or something like that. I love everything about my Canon, but keep in mind that the lens that comes with the Rebel (and most SLRs I believe) aren't that great. Separate lenses are also pricey, but I do love the macro lens I just got. Here are a couple of links to help you:
